Freeburg, MO is correct on the former Rock Island KC to STL line. A very scenic line with several tunnels and some nice high bridges over the Gasconade and Osage rivers. Our otherwise idiotic governor did make noises about purchasing the line for a rails to trails initiative recently. Not a bad idea.
Traffic seems to have picked up somewhat on the BNSF STL to Springfield line. It still isn't really busy but there is enough to keep things interesting. |
