Nostalgia & History > Trivia question: East meets WestDate: 05/12/06 10:53 Trivia question: East meets West Author: MTMEngineer In the thread "walkin' along the Milwaukee in Minneapolis" I mention a short stretch of trackage where an Eastbound train and a Westbound train could be side by side, both actually moving in the same direction.
Who knows where else on the Milwaukee could an Eastbound train run alongside a Westbound train? (Loops and horse shoes don't count.) Anyone know of any others? I know there is at least one somewhere out East. Date: 05/12/06 12:52 Re: Trivia question: East meets West Author: BRAtkinson The (former) short line to Fox Lake WI comes to mind. A short loop track at the end of the branch could conceivably handle both an east-bound and west-bound passenger train at the same time, both departing the same direction (south) back to the main line. I never saw it, but I suspect it was all single track, though.
