Here's a lashup not likely ever be seen again (though I suppose BNSF could still do it). On February 13, 1994 a westbound SP hauler is led by GP40X 7230, a GP35R in the ill-fated Kodachrome merger scheme, and another GP40X at Walnut, CA on SP's West Colton to LA mainline (now UP's Alhambra Sub). It was not uncommon to find the GP40X's running in captive service between WC and LA at the time.

Enjoy,

Rich

The east switch, going west at Walnut was the trap they set at the simulator years ago.
There would be an east man sitting on the main and you would be lined into the siding. That was when you would get a low yellow heading into an occupied siding. They would start to BS with you and a lot of guys fell for it. They filmed it with a train sitting right around the corner.

Nice catch Rich. What is the difference between a GP40X and an SD45? Thanks in advance.

Biggest difference is the GP runs on B-B trucks, the SD runs on C-C trucks.
