The last photo is especially rare showing the raised rear platform of the SD38-2 and the slug-unit cable connections. In my opinion, the SP WC slug hump unit sets were absolutely the best locomotive switching consist ever, and not just for SP, but out of all other Class 1 railroads combined. In retrospect, to sum up in one word of an SP West Colton hump set with a slug is a study in "Synchronicity"!

They really looked sharp after Earl Scheib got done with them... "No up's, no extra's"! (Tho he did do the wheel wells and the door jambs!)
