NWP 181 in Tiburon .... March, 1950 NWP 181, this time in Tracy, Apr 6 1955 and NWP 183 in Tracy Apr 6 1955. Date: 09/22/06 10:34 Re: Some off the NWP - some REALLY off the NWP Author: JMaurer1 Thank you SO very much for sharing images like these. Being an NWP fan, I originally joined this site because of some photos of Tiburon yard that were posted here. While I still check the site almost every day and am constantly amazed at the wonderful photography that is shared here, its images like what you just posted that really make it worth every penny> Thanks again for sharing.

You can see one of the 3 idlers or reach cars that were used to unload the barge. They had them painted up that way to keep people from hitting them at night if they were sitting on the crossing.
Nice pic. Nudge Date: 09/22/06 11:31 Re: Some off the NWP - some REALLY off the NWP Author: TCnR Did a quick search using Tiburon on the Nostalgia page only and found five pages of titles. Here's the discussions I remember: http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,1073525,1073562#msg-1073562
http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,1073768,1073777#msg-1073777 There's another thread with contemporary photos out there somewhere. Found it http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,1018938,page=1 Another 'Shed47' classic photo essay. The PE switcher in the Tib yard, March, 1950 (that fog looks very familiar!) shows 3 idler cars used to grab cars on the ferry....

But not many of the NWP steam locos. I think there are a couple more, I'll have to see what's here - one of 112..... (of course) on display in Sacto Aug 21 1955 - unfortunately, the angles and such just are not great for the colors involved. God I love that herald.

It was for access to the roundhouse and was on company property. I went out on it a few times to look at the 112 and just stuff in the yards when I was growing up in Tiburon. It was a magical place.
