SP's LAPCX in downtown Los Angeles, 1992

Here's a couple photos of Southern Pacific's LA-Portland I-5 corridor express train being built up at the remnants of the Cornfield yard in LA on April 26, 1992. Sorry about the backlighting, I happened to be on the Broadway bridge over the LA River in the mid-morning to photograph a Santa Fe train coming off the Pasadena Sub and noticed the Espee shooter in the opposite direction. The train was to be powered on this day by three Tunnel Motors and a GP60.

Not the most scenic locale, but an interesting look at the operations of this short-lived train. And yes, that's a blimp overhead in the photos.

Who cares if it's scenic, it's historic so keep 'em comin! Too bad that corn field is full of corn now.
