Nostalgia & History > can you identify what line this was? (socal/LA)Date: 11/28/06 21:45 can you identify what line this was? (socal/LA) Author: derek20la after getting my friend interested in the history of the pacific electric, he's been going over looking at old/abandoned track to see more of whats left for himself.... but he asked me a question i dont know.
he wanted to know if this track was once part of the PE. its down in bellflower and im not very familiar with that area at all..... so does anyone know if this was a PE line, or just SP or when it was abandoned? the link to the map is below http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=90703&ie=UTF8&z=19&ll=33.860369,-118.08202&spn=0.000557,0.001971&t=h&om=1&iwloc=addr Date: 11/28/06 22:26 Re: can you identify what line this was? (socal/LA) Author: mikado The line's attachment to the Watts line was obliterated with the completion of the 105 freeway. At that point the refinery (Using the map link, go north/west up the line to Somerset Blvd. and Lakewood Blvd.) that was shipping oil for asphalt in tank cars had to be reached via Anaheim then Huntington Beach. Sometime later the UP cut in access from it's Harbor Sub at the former diamond that crossed the old PE/SP line. See:
