A C&NW P42? It appears that someone has redone the C&NW's logo for the nose of the California Republican Party's "Victory Express 1996," seen here gliding to a stop in Fullerton, CA, for a spate of speeches as the candidates head south to San Diego and the Republican National Convention on August 10, 1996.

That would be an 800-series "P40." Note the strobe lights above the windshield and the seldom lit white class lights. The first P42DC's (which lacked strobes and had only red marker lights) were only just emerging from Erie in August 1996.

Did UP sue the candidate for unauthorized use of the C&NW logo?

Am I the only one that noticed that Highland Ave is a grade crossing in the above image? Realize that I was only eleven years old in 1996.

Ugh now I really feel old. What's sadder is that I thought it still was a grade crossing.

Ouch! Just shows how long its been since I've done much with shots of actual P40s! The slide is even labeled correctly, so I just blew it when I started this thread.

Sorry for the confusion...
