Nostalgia & History > Nevada Northern 1987Date: 03/04/07 17:41 Nevada Northern 1987 Author: px320 I've been scanning slides and prints in my collection and found this shot of No. 40 near the pit at Ruth.
Shot with a Yashica 2-1/4 x 2-1/4 Date: 03/04/07 23:19 Re: Nevada Northern 1987 Author: Pullman Hmmm, that looks more like it was down along Hwy 50 in Robinson Canyon.
You're gonna make me get out my negatives from back then... Date: 03/05/07 08:28 Re: Nevada Northern 1987 Author: px320 This was the first run of #40 after being restored to service by Short Line Enterprises. We went all the way to the Pit. I rode one run and chased the second. The run I chased someone had greased the rails heading up the grade to Ruth and the train was unable to complete the run to the top. I took this picture on the second run so I guess you are right about location since it didn't get to the Pit that trip.

Was there with a few others that weekend. Like I said, need to get out the negatives. There were some classic scenes to be captured. Remember that Ruth was still a town then and wasn't all torn down just yet. |
