That shot of the 1218 might be interchanging with the Wellsville, Addison & Galeton at Addison, NY, just west of Corning and Gang Mills. Edit: I just looked more closely at the photo, and judging by the size of that centercab, it's got to be a WAG 1700 (ex-Ford).

And I wonder about that "RDG 98 on NYC." Did Erie run over NYC from Gang Mills/Corning down to the RDG at Williamsport?

I second the pic from Wellsville, NY, WAG interchange.

My best guess, too.

The NYSW shot is REALLY rare.

There are next to no shots of either the erie or NYSW at
Susquehanna xfr, let along this train with Bag/Comb/Coach

Great stuff and great timing! I just acquired some Erie locos and wanted to see some in action! Any FM trainmasters?

Erie didn't have any F-M's, that was the Lackawanna.

Ah, he DOES say EL in the header. . . sorry. Guess he's keeping the good stuff for later!

That's OK, I really could have been more clear too.

I am just glad to see old East Coast stuff, sometimes the West Coast gets a bit over-represented!

The ERIE had trackage rights via NYC to reach their branch to Mansfield and south. They also had "overhead' trackage rights to reach the RDG at Newberry from Corning/Gang Mills. As I recall from my RDG ENGR.Dept. days, the #98/#99 were daily and generally arrived at Newberry late AM or early PM. The shot of ERIE #1218 was taken at Addison, NY. and shows the daily WAG frt. meeting the ERIE local. Mr. David Connor, an Addison railfan, had a number of similar shots in his collection.

Did RDG98/99 run east or west on the Erie main? I don't remember ever hearing of that symbol in the area around Binghamton and east.

Great, great pictures!

And actually the NYS&W picture is related in that the Erie Northern Branch and the Susquehanna were operated as a single double track railroad between Jersey City and Granton Jct in North Bergen.

Photo #2 is Addison, NY. Note signal is 301-2 Which is located at Addison MP JC301 for Eastbound Track #2.

The photo of RDG 98 at Gang Mills is across the river from Gang Mills yard on the connection track ready to enter the NYC Southbound Main. It was an Erie Train, Erie Power but with an NYC crew that operated it between Gang Mills and Newberry Jct. It was a train that took Erie freight to be interchanged with the Reading. This run ended with the Penn Central merger. The Erie and into EL until June 1972 did have the local run to Mansfield, PA and traveled over the NYC between Corning-Gang Mills to Lawrenceville where it joined its own line the Tioga Division.
