Nostalgia & History > a warbonnet surpriseDate: 12/18/07 14:35 a warbonnet surprise Author: 3rdswitch In May '90, just prior to it's renumbering and the arrival of the new warbonnets, while fooling around in the Riverside, CA, area the eastbound "Dego" [on the San Bernardino Sub anyway] appeared at West Riverside with fresh red and silver 104 an unusual consist as well as an unusually short train. A chase ensued and here [top] the train is rounding the curve at the Green River golf course crossing just west of Prado Dam on Santa Fe's San Bernardion Sub and [bottom] has slowed to 15 mph just prior to entering Valencia siding on the San Diego Sub to meet a westbound Amtrak San Diegan. This train symboled 3-828 at the time, becomes a westbound when it leaves the Olive Sub at Orange and enters the San Diego Sub.
