Nostalgia & History > SP demonstrator train in what SP city?Date: 01/19/08 15:58 SP demonstrator train in what SP city? Author: JoCoLB This was a publicity photo released by the Southern Pacific Railroad in May of 1992. The photo was distributed in connection with a new SP demonstration train that was making a system-wide tour. My question is: Where is the train pictured? The location didn't show with the press material accompanying the photo. Second question: Did SP begin using its "speed lettering" on the sides of new locomotives the same year?

A good indicator of loco lettering change occurred during the delivery of the GP60s and the rebuilt GP40s from M.K. I think it was early 1991 when speed lettering appeared.
