Depot and club house were toward the east end just south (opposite the main) of the east ladder

Yep, 18 stall roundhouse north of the original yard.

Completed in 1981.

More "Urinal" trivia (as we called it when I was on the UP there).

Prior to 1908 it was called Otis. Yermo is the Spanish word for desert, which couldn't be more fitting for this place from hell.

When I used to get held up at the beanery there I sometimes used to wander out behind it where the old clubhouse used to stand. There were remnants of foundations, the pool and a lot of fragments of plates and china. Someone told me when they tore the 1924 era depot and clubhouse down they dug a big hole, filled it with all the dishes and utensils from the beanery (some of which were recycled from the passenger fleet) and buried all of it there.

Damned shame. Wish they would have modernized the clubhouse instead of tearing it down and putting up that crappy, dingy, rat infested metal building that was our home away from home back then. Thankfully it's all gone now and crews that have to lay over there go to the Oak Tree Inn off Calico road. The west end yard office was condemned and torn down as well. (Thanks to BMT for the Yermo updates)

In the center of the first pic you can barely make out a radial pattern... former whisker tracks maybe? Or filled-in inspection pits? It looks like the former engine service area is across the yard from the wye.

Hello

Thanks for the info, Come on yermo it's that bad when you have fine dinning like pennys, jack in the crack and peggy sues. LOL:)

When I work the las vegas to yermo pool I had a car so I could drive to barstow.

Here's the best way to visit Yermo. 30,000 feet high on a Virgin America flight to NYC. Only 18 mins. from LAX when you do it that way.
