Nostalgia & History > Amtrak "Pepsi Can" #502 at Stockton Tower Mar 1993Date: 05/08/08 23:14 Amtrak "Pepsi Can" #502 at Stockton Tower Mar 1993 Author: drew1946 Amtrak P32 #502 is passing now gone Stockton Tower in March of 1993 on its way to Bakersfield with the San Joaquin. Until the new "California" equipment arrived, Horizon coaches were the standard fare. #502, although in Amtrak paint, was actually owned by Cal Trans as noted by the small decal just back of the nose. It and sister #501, also owned by Cal Trans would later be repainted into the "California" colors and renumbered as 2051 and 2052.

I also enjoy your non-lightyear away posts. I can remember being 3-4 years old and watching these brutes come in to town (bakersfield) waiting for grandma to step down from the coaches, or uncle from the cab. Ah yes, those were the days/

Just worked with the lines very well. The Susie-Q scheme looked pretty good on Dash 8s as well.
I love the revived ATSF Super Fleet scheme, but it always, to me, looked better on the GP60s and FP45s than on the GEs. Too bad the Pepsi Cans are all getting (or have gotten) shamu colors except for 2501-2502. The California ones don't look too bad, though.
