It's Freight Car Friday
Author: TTM

1. I caught HTCX 339, an Idaho Forest all-door boxcar on a UP freight at Ontario, OR. 8-80

2. I caught another Idaho Forest all-door boxcar, this time in green paint at Ontario, OR. 3-81

3. This Southern 9910 all-door boxcar was on a BN train at Tacoma, WA. 4-95

Thanks for looking,

Tom

Thanks for sharing. Not sure if I have seen one of those Southern all door boxes before.

Can I join in here? Hear are three of a more contemporary variety than what I've been posting.

Nice rolling stock shots from both of you. Say Con, is that Arkansas Midland car a high cube boxcar or an open top wood chip car made from a boxcar. Almost looks like it has an open top. I know there have been Chip cars made by taking the top off of a boxcar. (Unless I was just seeing things, which is quite possible also.) That Southern all-door boxcar is very unusual too. Have only seen a couple of that type of car. Just looks really odd.

I though the SP had some. I seen these Cars in HO Scale from Bachmann years ago

Answering a couple of questions:

The AM car is a box car, complete with roof. Always was.

The SP didn't own any all-door box cars. The Southern car pictured had been modified from its original format, in which the doors all rolled up to the roof, after which intermediate posts could be rolled to one end of the car, opening the entire side. That had to be a strong roof!
