2 views of a Missouri Pacific bridge under flood water
Author: JoCoLB

Here are two pictures of a flooded Missouri Pacific Railroad bridge at the north edge of Osawatomie, KS. The photos were taken 42 years apart.

Picture One was taken on July 9, 1909, as the Marais des Cygnes River had overflowed its banks.

Picture Two was taken in July of 1951 when the "Muddy Mary" was on the rampage again.

This particular bridge was replaced in the late 1970s or early 1980s by a more modern bridge structure. The new bridge was flooded for the first time in 2007. I haven't found anyone with pictures of that flood scene.

Old farts "mean quality said the Captain to the Bosun. Look for the bottle with the ship that sails the Ocean!"
