When the Susquehanna Roamed

Back in 1989, I was a skinny high school senior who every once in a while put aside the girls and the brew and went trackside in good ol Bawlmer, Merlin to take in the rail scene. In that era, the Susquehanna was operating the D&H before Canadian Pacific took over and train 403 from Philly to Pot Yard. Running to a NS connection at the remains of Potomac Yard in Crystal City, Virginia, 'The D&H train' as it was known around town, usually offered something different. The 20 CSX-financed NYSW B40-8s were very popular to chase in Baltimore. After CP took over, the B40-8s became CSX property, CP Rail started running MLWs here, and the Orioles and Ravens have since built their homes here. You can't go home...
