Nostalgia & History > WK&S 2-6-2 #250Date: 06/23/11 12:52 WK&S 2-6-2 #250 Author: jim6300loco Hi all,
Back in the early days of the Wanamaker Kempton & Southern, They owned a beautiful little 2-6-2 Prarie type, Baldwin Built, which they had to sell off a few years later for much needed money. A few years back a friend of mine who now is the retired President Judge of Berks County in Pennsylvania , President Judge Forrest Schaeffer JR. gave me this picture. Forrest was once a locomotive Engineer for the WK&S. He didn't know who the photographer was, so it is from him, and is part of my collection. The engine today still is in one piece and is rusting away up in New England somewhere. This shot was taken at the northern Terminus of the WK&S Wanamaker. It was for sale about 10 years ago, several interested parties looked at it, but nothing ever materialized. I for one would love to see it at the Wilmington & Western. It's a great loco for their sized operation and would be a match to their 98, as the Bonhomie & Hattiesburg interchanged with the Mississippi Central, 98's original owner. Ironic that the WK&S once again owns and is restoring to operation a 2-6-2, albeit smaller than the 250. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 06/23/11 15:45 by nhiwwrr.
