Nostalgia & History > Questions about Danville, CA interurban sceneDate: 09/06/11 14:59 Questions about Danville, CA interurban scene Author: Evan_Werkema Digging around the web for something else, I came across this postcard described as Hartz Ave. in Danville, CA, period.
http://www.usgwarchives.net/ca/contracosta/postcards/dnmnst.jpg Anybody know what we're looking at here? I don't have a good idea of how Sacramento Northern went through Danville - did they run down Hartz, or was this another operation entirely? That's the former CP combine that was electrified for the branch.

The photo dates from 1922 and is from the Ted Wurm collection. The Danville branch was shortlived, operating from 1914 to 1924.
Edit: I knew I had seen that photo someplace else: http://www.museumsrv.org/srvm_vh_trolley.html Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/06/11 15:46 by shed47. |
