NS 2900
EMD 27894 11/1962

Location of the bell is most unusual.

NKP moved it there so it wouldn't get clogged with snow.
They did the same thing with their Alco PA's.
Being that the NKP went right through the Lake Eire snow belt, it's not surprising.

An NKP expert is going to have to wiegh in on this, but
stop and think about it for a moment. In the nose, the
bell would get clogged with snow when they hit a drift,
so I doubt that was the reason.

All NS GP30s (regardless of predecessor line) were gone by 1992. Likewise all GP35s. Hard to imagine 20 years have passed since then.

The normal EMD bell location is under the walkway on the left side right behind the pilot.
NKP is not the only road to relocate the bell. They just choose a unique location to put it.

It would make it easier to clean in out than being on the roof though. Nice shots by all, can't beat a GP30.-BMT
