SP SDs in the late 60s...
Author: Notch16

Standing trackside to watch passenger trains at the Martinez, California depot always came with a nice finish: the accelerating passage of the manifests and merchandise that were held back while the passenger station stop was completed.

Here are three from 1968 and 1969.

I'm not sure what the skywriting in the second shot was all about. It looks like the Mazda logo, but in 1968 I'd more likely go with something like Parliament cigarettes!

And yes, that's TO's Mococo Bob standing at the depot in the first shot.

tracktime, those auto racks and all those Chevy vans are for you!

Edit: At the first posting of these images, I thought they looked very muddy and over-saturated. These edited reposts do too. Pardon the construction dust as I keep trying different balances...

Ha ha, Bob hasn't moved far in 40 years. He was probably standing there last weekend.

Great shots!

Well, if I hadn't seen proof before, I would never have believed it - Bob Z and freight train photos!!!! Thanks for the look back at a location where we both spent our formative (deformative?) years. We'll have a blast when that time machine gets finished...

Sometimes my camera would jump its 'Passenger Only' settings and starting clicking by itself. I couldn't control it.
