a Warbonnet repost . .
Author: 3rdswitch

. . I posted this shot about four years ago and thought a reminder of how they used to look was in order. I was very pleased when I got this slide back from processing as I didn't know squat then and still don't know squat about night photography. A little use of Photoshop helped make the colors right. In this hobby sometimes you win and sometimes you don't. I took this during one of my many night or afternoon shifts working at Santa Fe's Hobart yard in the Los Angeles area in November '90 on what looks like the 549's first trip out west.

Very nice photo. I've always had a trial and error attitude with night shots. With digital now one can at least see the result immediately and try again.........

Guess Santa Fe started mixing the Dash 40Bs w/ GP60Ms right away.

Yup. It was hard enough keeping blue and yellow separate from red and silver, and they gave that up in short order, too.
