Nostalgia & History > The old MoPac bridge at Osage, Mo.,...Date: 11/17/12 12:00 The old MoPac bridge at Osage, Mo.,... Author: Alco251 ...was a single-track bottleneck for many years. Long before Union Pacific significantly rebuilt the bridge over the Osage River, and decades before anyone in the state even suggested state-subsidy for passenger trains on this line, here is Amtrak train #31, the westbound "National Limited" crossing the old bridge and lift-span at Osage, Missouri, a few miles east of Jefferson City, September 22, 1974. Brand-new SDP40F 598 is in charge. Photo by David R. Busse.
