More SJVR the early years

SJVR = San Joaquin Valley Railroad TVRR = Tulare Valley Railroad both are headquartered in Exeter, CA

1. The TVRR/SJVR took over the ATSF Branch lines (Porterville and Visalia Subs plus)in late December 1992 here the first job to Calwa passes Lone Star long hood first 12-22-92
2. The SJVR received addition motive power in 12/92 for use with the TVRR expansion former IC GP28 1825 was one of the additional locomotives
3. 1825, 2043 and 2035 were added In 12-92

7. GP28 1826 former IC 9031
8. 1826 repainted with economy lettering
9. KYLE 2035 with Bill Graham riding. Bill was the first superintendent of loco maintenance. Bill got the purple shaft with the barbed cluster when the GM that followed Fred Krebs fired him. Bill was fine man that deserved better.

Thanks for posting an interesting series of photo showing the early days of the SJV. It is hard to believe it has been about 20 years since the branches were sold by thr AT&SF and SP.

The weed spraying photo shows how different thing were done back then with little or no safety equipment or procedures used. Today it would not be economical week control after the fines by the County Ag Commissioner were applied.
