The 3 week series authored by santafe199 about Salina, Kansas inspired me to share some scenes from last summer as UP 844 arrived in town for a full-day display. The engine had started the day at Kansas City Union Station. Coverage of 844 on the Council Bluffs - Des Moines and the following week of the Des-Moines - KC - Salina trips is on the “Big Steam on the Mainline” DVD.

I was glad to see many of the structures found on santafe199's posts are still there!

Sorry about the overhead August sun and the puke-green vests. Some things can’t always be avoided.
