Nostalgia & History > Interesting Amtrak photos from 1971Date: 12/15/12 10:39 Interesting Amtrak photos from 1971 Author: jonjonjonjon Here's a link to the Atlantic Monthly's web site about a photo documentary called "Photographing the Dawn of Amtrak", 1971.
The photos were taken by a National Geographicl photographer as part of the short-lived Documerica program, curiously run by the then-new EPA. http://www.theatlanticcities.com/arts-and-lifestyle/2012/12/photographing-dawn-amtrak/4148/ Date: 12/15/12 12:20 Re: Interesting Amtrak photos from 1971 Author: mbutte Absolutely fascinating photos from Amtrak's early years.
All 355 pictures can be viewed here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/usnationalarchives/sets/72157629983840058/ FYI...Not all are Amtrak-related, but they are all well worth viewing. Edited 1 time(s). Every photo has lost just about all green/blue tone. This is not normal for photography from that period.

What was the Amtrak "Expo 74" train that is mentioned several times? Date: 12/15/12 15:15 Re: Interesting Amtrak photos from 1971 Author: gsnyder I believe "Expo 74" was the short lived service between Seattle and Spokane (site of Expo '74)
