Here are a couple of shots back in the days...

Photo 1 is Reno, looking north toward Peavine Mountain. I believe the tracks curving off to the left are the Virginia & Truckee connection.

Photo 2 is Palisade, Nevada. The train could be crossing the same bridge that was knocked down by a westbound UP grain train in 2008.

John,

That appears to be the trestle at Palisade, since replaced by a singularly mundane concrete structure. The palisades in the background are a clue as well as the road area in front of the trestle where, in other photos, there was a vehicle bridge. The Humboldt river appears placid.
