Pullman WA 1987
Author: Waybiller

In Dec. 1987 I had borrowed my parents' car so determined to do a little train chasing around the Pullman area.
Pictures 1 and 2 are the BN depot, still in use as an agency at this time?
Picture 3 is the power for the BN local that would lay over in Pullman.

I don't have any pictures of BN trains other than power laying over in Pullman. I don't remember if that was because I preferred chasing the UP, or if the UP was just easier to chase.

The UP was always more regular, so it was an easier catch around town.

I've posted a few of these before, but am reposting them with a scanner and a very little inexpert use of photoshop to clean them up.

These are on the UP between Pullman and Colfax. The empty coal hoppers are coming back from the WSU steam plant.

Again, apologies for the reposts, but these are a lot better than my previous efforts. I've asked for a photoshop tutorial for Christmas!

The bottom picture is Colfax, WA.

I'm hopeful that I'll be able to find the negatives to these sometime over Christmas and can do a much better job of scanning.

I will enjoy your (real UP 2000-2059) GP-38s, just the way they are! Thanks, wag216

Ditto. Never saw three B30-7AB's in one set before.

That's very cool. I graduated 20 years later in '07 from WSU. When I started school there WATCO was running trains into Pullman, but the WSU steam plant closed in I think maybe spring '05, right before I moved in next to it. The Palouse bridge fire closed the old UP line to Colfax, and the Washington and Idaho picked up the fertilizer business to Moscow, which really seemed to be the last big customer on the line. Before the steam plant closed WATCO had a runnaway on the colfax hill if I recall correctly and spilled a bunch of coal.
Those are great images, too bad there isn't as much rail traffic there now. It's beautiful country though, with or without the trains.
