SP F's along the Truckee River
Author: photobob

Five F units lead a westbound along the Truckee River in the early morning light back in 1962. The roar of five F units with the sound of the river was a moment you can never forget.

Looks like a loaded stock car on the point to me.

SP exited the livestock business relatively early. WP, UP, Milw, BN all stuck with it longer, not sure about ATSF.

Best regards,

Seeing the exhaust from the units . . you can almost hear the whine of the diesels . . . . great shot (as usual) !!

Was that shot near the highway bridge south of Truckee? There was a Fly fishing club in that spot in the 70s if so. Cool photo. Glad the weather is keeping you at the scanner. Has the ice in the front yard turned blue yet like the Glaciers in Alaska?

Are you confusing BN with NP? Was BN ever in the livestock business?

I was getting really excited to see F Units on the branch from Truckee to Tahoe City, CA. Darn... :)
