Two Anything But Plain Jane Depots for Friday
Author: terrybaker

Two weeks ago, PRose posted a 2 Plain Jane Depot thread, so today I thought I might be able to come up with a couple of “Anything But Plain Jane Depots”. Both scanned from photographs taken in the 80’s:

1) Nampa, Idaho – originally constructed by the Oregon Short Line, opened in 1903 and served as the depot until 1925 when a new depot was completed on the other side of the tracks, since 7/3/76 a museum operated by the Canyon County Historical Society
2) Rhyolite, Nevada – Las Vegas & Tonopah Railroad, construction completed in 1908, no longer in use as a depot when the rails into Rhyolite were removed in 1917, more recent photographs show a chain link fence around the structure, not my car

The Nampa Idaho depot on the other side is the UP offices.

The old depot appears in the police badge.

OH the places I've been, and the things I did not see. Thanks for showing both pics. Nampa station looks great, and Rhyolite was fenced a couple of years ago. Still worth the drive .
