Things went to hell badly when throngs of unruly railfans descended on Sherman Hill to chase 8444 (844) and 3985. Not only did the ranchers get pissed, all the UP access roads that used to be open to anybody were suddenly locked and off limits. We did it to ourselves, folks....and continue to do it today in less dramatic ways.

Correct, I remember the 'before' when I first started somewhat regular visits to the area (1968) and witnessed the 'after' that Super_C described.
