Nostalgia & History > 1800's Union Pacific MOW mystery photoDate: 09/25/14 08:14 1800's Union Pacific MOW mystery photo Author: Cjcheely Hello
I purchased this photo yesterday at an antique store in the Illinois. It's has no info with the photo. it looks like came out of someone early 1890 to 1900's photo scrapbook. It looks to be a MOW gang with two early work train cars somewhere in the plains states. does anyone have any ideas? Marty Bernard Date: 09/25/14 16:22 Re: 1800's Union Pacific MOW mystery photo Author: TCnR Notice the lettering is still very fresh and crisp, the cars look new, nothing missing or bent. Suggests it's fairly near Omaha, somewhere in Nebraska, but not much to go by.
Since it's a fairly well-known and well documented project, perhaps there is a Catalog of known Photographers and Photos that can be accessed from a National Parks Site, or similar. There may be similar photos, styles or camera techniques to suggest a connection. The curved image may be indicative of a particular camera set up, perhaps the photo sensitive chemical can be characterized, etc. Date: 09/25/14 17:35 Re: 1800's Union Pacific MOW mystery photo Author: rrpreservation That's a great idea!
