Davis, CA, Watertank?
Author: railwaybaron

Does anyone know the size/number of gallons of the steel water tank that was at Davis, CA? Any idea whose model is closest in HO? Thanks in advance.

Thats my home town were I lived from 6th grade through college years.  Having lived so long away now, it looks almost foreign - palm tree's and all, yet I took it all for granted back then. Great memories.

The size of the tank (i.e., how many gallons it holds)  may be indicated on Davis station plans.  The Calif. RR Museum Library has Davis station plans for 1909, 1917, 1938 and 1951.

Walthers makes a steel water tank of the same basic design as the one at Davis but how close in size it is to the Davis tank I don't know.  The Walthers tank can be seen at: https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fs-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com%2F236x%2F22%2F60%2F6d%2F22606d091c3beabaa747e3eefe5cfcf4.jpg&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.pinterest.com%2Fpin%2F352617845796440975%2F&docid=XoGB7mQNZd3fvM&tbnid=sA-LevyQ8U43qM%3A&vet=1&w=236&h=286&bih=709&biw=1440&ved=0ahUKEwj3gOSMzr3RAhXhiFQKHRxrDvE4yAEQMwgcKBowGg&iact=c&ictx=1 (the larger image at left)
