Nostalgia & History > City with the Most Surviving DepotsDate: 04/21/17 07:58 City with the Most Surviving Depots Author: whazen36 Hi All,
I'm fairly new to train orders but I read something intriguing the other day I thought I'd ask about. It stated that in the 1970's, my current home of Kalamazoo, MI had the most surviving depots of any city in the United States. After the careless attitude toward's preservation in the 1970's and 80's and the 1980 Kalamazoo Tornado, I'm unsure if Kalamazoo still holds that title and I'm hoping someone can provide some insight. I'll list surviving depots and towers below. Depots GR&I Passenger 402 E. Michigan Ave GR&I Freight ~408 S Pitcher GTW Freight 427 E Michigan Ave MCRR Passenger Kalamazoo Transportation Center, 459 North Burdick MUR Depot #1 225 N Rose St MUR Depot #2 169 Portage St CK&S Depot??? 542 E. Michigan Ave- unknown if actually CK&S Depot Towers BO Tower- Porter and Willard St. Church Street Tower- Moved to Gilmore Car Museum Will H.
