Another Amtrak Inaugural
Author: march_hare

Continuing on the theme of raiding the trades box for Jim Odell slides, we find the inaugural run  of Amtrak's renamed  New York to Detroit "Niagara Rainbow" at the Utica, NY station. Wikipedia says this was in April, 1976.

I know, it's supposed to be F-unit Friday and this train has an E.  But there aren't any days of the week that start with E.

These were the days of Penn Central - look at the trash on the tracks and the weeds and old track laying around. - Geeze! How did we live through that era?

Nice shot!! Old Conrail T&E crews, based at Buffalo, worked Niagara Falls-Syracuse-Niagara Falls.
