Nostalgia & History > Sunset Limited at Eureka Jct -- March 80Date: 04/30/17 14:32 Sunset Limited at Eureka Jct -- March 80 Author: gcm (1-2) In Houston, the eastbound Sunset is coming around the curve and connecting to the SP
Dallas line (looking NE) at Eureka Jct (about 5 miles from the Houston station). The track just beyond the 20 mph sign is the MKT line from Eureka Yard (out of sight to the right). (3) Four sleepers on the train this day. The last car is ex-CB&Q Silver Orchid. Built by Budd in 1952 for the Blackhawk. It was a 6 roomette, 4 double bedroom, 6 section car (Amtrak used the sections as dormitory space). A Southern 10-6 (probably the Transcontinental sleeping car) was next. Gary Date: 04/30/17 14:51 Re: Sunset Limited at Eureka Jct -- March 80 Author: refarkas Interesting location. My favorite is photo one showing both the train and the trackwork.
