Nostalgia & History > 1983: Restoring a GG1Date: 05/22/17 04:49 1983: Restoring a GG1 Author: bandob In June of 1983, members of the Baltimore Chapter, NRHS were cosmetically restoring this GG1 at Baltimore's B&O Railroad Museum.
Today I believe the locomotive is at the National Railroad Museum, Green bay, WI. B&OBill Date: 05/22/17 04:52 Re: 1983: Restoring a GG1 Author: bandob Here it is at the museum in 1991. Still looking good 8 years after its cosmetic restoration.

Because the museum does not care about its rich history, look how it looks more recently and trust me, it looks even worse now being allowed to collect rust. Even state supported California Railroad Museum doesn't have enough funds to properly maintain it's equipment. If you want to stop this disinterest and decay, your best bet is send them some money, preferably earmarked for the display you feel needs the most help. IMHO.
