That snow plow is kind of ugly but I guess Union Pacific didn't want to spend a lot of money on something living out its time.

By the time of that photo, the McKeen had been converted to a gas-electric with a Winton engine and GE electricals (note the non-McKeen power truck and EMC-style roof-mounted radiators). It lasted in this form until 1952, long after any "pure" McKeens had been put out to pasture.
