Roger Puta Shot One Afternoon in Lovekin, Ontario
Author: MartyBernard

He shot from Lakeshore Road bridge over the double track CN main. To the left of him a few hundred feet was the parallel CP main. To the right of him a few hundred feet was the north shore of Lake Ontario. The place is called Lovekin. Wikimapia calls Lovekin, "One of the best locations to view railroads in Ontario!" It is east of, and beyond suburban Toronto. If you look hard you may see two buildings in the seven photographs I'm showing you. He took these in March of 1980.

1. and 2. CN 9550 and 9572, both GP40-2LW, and train. You are looking east through Roger's telephoto lens. Toronto is behind you.

3. VIA 6533, an FP9, leads.

7. CP 5736 SD40-2 and 4565 M630, seen in the previous photo. A little of the CN main can be seen in the lower right. He clearly was running out of light.

Comments and corrections welcome.

Enjoy,
Marty Bernard

Thanks for posting these. Having been there, these photos bring back special memories . My favorites are the photos of VIA 6760.

Anybody know what schedule the RDCs are covering?  Don't recall them in main line trains.

RDCs were common on Toronto-Kingston trains (651, 652)

CN / VIA 6760 is still running today on the Napa Valley Wine Train. Ran 29 years on the CN and VIA, and now 29 years on the NVWT.
