Nostalgia & History > 1984: Wyoming, Sherman Hill, Archer HillDate: 05/28/17 06:27 1984: Wyoming, Sherman Hill, Archer Hill Author: bandob With my father-in-law now into trains, we planned a day out to Sherman Hill. He knew all the back roads to get there. Along the way, we got a couple of high plains shots, including one with the ever-present snow fences.

The view is very different from views of other RR tunnel portals that have mountains towering in the background (Moffat, Mullen, etc). The material above the Hermosa tunnels isn't much higher than what they'd already excavated on either side of the portals... Take care, Mark Date: 05/28/17 08:54 Re: 1984: Wyoming, Sherman Hill Author: bluesman Classic good stuff!

"Due to the downturn in the economy, UP had to downgrade their Shippers Specials. Instead of a top rated chef in a fancy office car, clients were served cold bologna sandwiches and fried pickles..." Ok, I know I have a strange sense of humor... Great pics btw..glad I got to Hermosa Tunnels in 1999 before area was off limits... Steve in beautiful Grossmont, CA.. Remembering Our Fallen Today |
