Nostalgia & History > 11/77 SP Tweedy PowerDate: 06/19/17 11:21 11/77 SP Tweedy Power Author: callum_out Resting between assignments as the power for the SP Tweedy Hauler are two of the three remaining RSD12s.
The units had come in off lease to the Oregon California and Eastern and were presumed to be scrap material. Much to the surprise of us fans the units were freshened up, painted and given local Hauler assignments in the LA region. Tweedy was a local yard between Alameda Blvd roadways adjacent to both a Firestone Tire plant and a GM plant, the local routinely running 60 cars. That was before we "surrendered" our auto industry to our former enemies and there were many jobs for our young. Oh and the Chevrolets were being made at Gemco!
