Yes, this was the trip to the Worlds Fair in New Orleans. It left Portland the previous Saturday, overnighted in K Falls, then arrived in Sacramento Sunday evening. Tuesday it headed for San Francisco and this location was Pinole (I believe). Back then my chase vehicle was a Honda CB750 which allowed me to catch the train a couple places along the way.

I remember my dad taking us to see the return trip when it came through Benicia.

Nice photo. I wonder if you were east of Pinole. The hills on the other side make me think you were closer to the Carquinez Straits, maybe just west of Crocket.
