On way home I remember wandering around in Los Angeles Union Station killing time after dinner in Harvey House. It later it seemed every train on the three railroads had left town and No. 6 was going to be the the last. I was sitting on one of those hard wooden benches seemingly alone in the massive terminal. I was happy to finally board and get under the sheets in my roomette.

A café lounge operated from Las Vegas to Ogden, then another car operated Cheyenne to Omaha. |
