Alco's across Wisconsin
Author: thebluecomet

Passed through Wisconsin back in the fall of 1992. The Green Bay & Western was still running with their all Alco fleet.
#1. 314 leads a short eastbound through Plover, WI. October 19, 1992.
#2 & #3. 313 and company work at Merrillan. The C&NW crossing is in the distance. October 17, 1992.

A few years earlier from the above I stopped in Green Bay. The C&NW was a significant presence here.
#4. GB&W 321works their yard.
#5. 4243 parked in front of the yard office.
#6. 4247 and others sitting just off the turntable. All September 15, 1984.

By this time the former N&W high hood C628's had been largely retired. Several sat out their last days here.
#7. 6722 still looks decent.
#8. 6726 along with several other now out-of-service units.
#9. 4250 is a modelers kit-bash in 1:1 scale. Should we call this a RS311?
All September 15, 1984.

Great shots! Merrillan Cafe was always good for a quick ice cream fix whenever #2 stopped and worked there.

All great shots. Lots of good memories in Green Bay. If you look closely in #4, you can just make out the "Green Bay Route" herald painted near the top of the concrete grain elevators.
