Those are NOT "Baby Trainmasters". They are H16-44's. Baby Trainmasters were H16-66's with 3 axle trucks.

An esoteric question.... Does a locomotive that's painted solid black actually have a "paint scheme"? (I'm assuming lettering in this case is not a significant part of the paint scheme).

As someone who grew up looking at GORGEOUS UP, SP and ATSF paint schemes, I feel so sorry for you guys who started watching Trains in the PC era. Love those Trainmasters but trying to picture them in something other than PC black & white.

Hate to say it, but dip all black paint saved money.

the only way I could determine they were ex NH are the Hancock air whistles

They're also set up short hood forward (As were New Haven's GP9's and RS11's). Pennsy's and NYC's road switchers were long hood forward (except for a batch of NYC ex-C&O Geeps used in Ontario).
