The train w/the x-Shasta Daylight coaches has to be the Inter-American.

Don't know about the two domes, CHI-STL train ???

Great pix B.M. Thank you.

I was an Amtrak ticket clerk in St. Louis for the summer of 1976. The "National Limited" (Amtrak trains 30 & 31) would frequently haul cars to and from Indianapolis for Beech Grove Shops. As an employee riding the National Limited to Effingham, eastbound, I was permitted by the train crew to solely occupy a former Wabash Vista Dome coach deadheading on the back of the National Limited. Good times!

Is that the late John Mills with his back to us in the Amfleet photo?

How come you never came by to say Hi? We had the Golden State 4-4-2 SP 9111 on the AFT- you’d have loved it!

I would have! Must have been a terrific experience. There's nothing like an Imperial (4-4-2).

Best!

Here's the Abe Lincoln leaving St Louis a day or two before the other photos were taken.  The dome here is Silver Terrace (DZ?), and the diner just forward of it is an SP Sunset Limited Budd.  Ya Gotta love the 70's consists!
An irony here is that I shot this from aboard the AFT- while the rail world was chasing and shooting the AFT, I was busy shooting the rail world from the AFT's vestibules. Funny when you think about it.

Could be! It's April, he might have been going to or from the Spring NARP board meeting.

St.Louis Union Station had just two years to go in revenue service. It was closed in the fall of 1978.

Additionally, St. Louise Union Station is now a hotel, Hilton when I stayed there in 2014.
There's a lot of commercial development under the old train shed.
