Nostalgia & History > Some More of Roger Puta's Santa FeDate: 12/13/17 15:42 Some More of Roger Puta's Santa Fe Author: MartyBernard I have not posted any of Roger Puta's slides recently so here's 5. They could use some caption help.
1. This scan is from a group of slides labeled "Early Morning." It's of ATSF U36C 8758 somewhere during a morning blue hour in May 1980 2. August 1981, looks like Cajon Pass in an evening blue hour 3. Light engines in the Tehachapis in March 1983. I have no idea how true the green is. 4. Looking at ATSF RSD15 9820 in March 1972 5. Blue hour High Green in October 1985 Enjoy Roger's work, Marty Bernard Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/13/17 15:46 by MartyBernard. Marty Date: 12/13/17 20:29 Re: Some More of Roger Puta's Santa Fe Author: BRAtkinson WOW!
Fantastic images! Thank you Roger for your keen eye, and thank you Marty for posting them! Date: 12/13/17 22:21 Re: Some More of Roger Puta's Santa Fe Author: bradleymckay #1 (maybe) wb exiting Franklin Cyn in the afternoon.
#2 Cajon, but not exactly sure where. Maybe an early morning eb approaching Summit. #3 Tehachapi. Looks to be a wb just below Bealville. Allen Date: 12/14/17 00:40 Re: Some More of Roger Puta's Santa Fe Author: mp51w Some real gems there Marty!
That vertically composed shot with the green hillsides is especially good! The cut shot appears to be an all Alco engine lash up! Date: 12/14/17 00:47 Re: Some More of Roger Puta's Santa Fe Author: exhaustED stevelv Wrote:

The train is just off Muir Trestle, which can't be seen from this angle. https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,4254036,4254040#4254040 Other photos in the same sequence are here: https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,4343818,4343818#4343818 > 2. Looking at ATSF RSD15 9820 in March 1972 Can you read the number on the milepost to the right? > 5. Blue hour High Green in October 1985 This appears to be a companion to photo 5 in this thread: https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,4188345,4188345#4188345 and the same location as 4 and 5 in this thread: https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,4180965,4180965#4180965 Puta took a fair number of photos on the Belen Cutoff in New Mexico that month. Santa Fe didn't have a lot of wide signal bridges like that, but such a bridge used to exist just east of Clovis, NM. The train would be westbound. |
