Nostalgia & History > CB&Q sleeper at Cheyenne -- Nov 74Date: 12/14/17 13:52 CB&Q sleeper at Cheyenne -- Nov 74 Author: gcm The Silver Slope was a 10-6 built by Budd in 1952 for the American Royal Zephyr.
Here it is on the San Francisco Zephyr at Cheyenne -- still original on the outside. Gary Date: 12/14/17 14:32 Re: CB&Q sleeper at Cheyenne -- Nov 74 Author: czephyr17 Nice! And to think, the car in the picture is younger than any of the Superliners in Amtrak's possession!

Also, the Superliner 2's came on line in the early 90's if I am not mistaken. Date: 12/15/17 05:13 Re: CB&Q sleeper at Cheyenne -- Nov 74 Author: colehour up833 Wrote:

I believe they were the last passenger cars built by Pullman. Date: 12/19/17 02:02 Re: CB&Q sleeper at Cheyenne -- Nov 74 Author: mp51w Here are a few documents from the ex-ATSF Topeka shops files.
I'm not sure if it didn't get the full Amtrak refurb.treatment until 1977, but these notes indicate quite a bit of work was done on the car then. Second document shows quite a few man hours on the cost estimate! Unbelievably, the car derailed on its way to Kansas City after the overhaul! So they sent it back for truck/wheel damage assessment.
