Nostalgia & History > Railgrinders in actionDate: 02/16/18 11:34 Railgrinders in action Author: Krokodil Railgrinders usually provide for a nice spectacle. Here an old fashioned railgrinder is in action along CR's Riverline in June 1996. For the modeller, there are some nicely kit bashed cars in the composition.
Fifteen years later we find a modern version at the shop in Cresson PA on the famous ex-PRR West Slope. No more kitbashed cars, the composition is compact, reflecting increased safety and other regulation. Most impressive is the speed. We chased the grinder from Cresson to Carney's crossing and barely made it! Enjoy the night spectacle of this composition! We were in the business car track at Lindenwood with the 1522 when one of the trains came in to water. It was at dusk and the whole thing looked like something out of a Stephen King novel.
