Great Western in 2008
Author: highgreengraphics

A Great Western Railway eastbound from Loveland, CO crosses the trestle over the Big Thompson River at Hardman bottoms, midway between Officer Jct./Kelim and Johnstown, CO on a pleasant May 5, 2008 early afternoon. The UP 9119 C40-8 (built in 12-87) on the rear was at Loveland having some work done to it in the shop and is on its way to interchange back to UP. The originally-SP SD35 OMLX 2959 in the middle in Utah Railway paint was sold to Cargill after several years of use on Great Western. The lead "Topeka Cab" Geep 2243 was originally ATSF, then Central Kansas Railway, then GWR and painted into this scheme in Loveland in January of 2005. In October of 2012, it was sold to MVPX Motive Power Resources, Inc. I do not know if it is still among the living or not. === === = === JLH
